We’re thrilled to offer two incredible opportunities for professionals and students to showcase their skills and insights in people analytics.

— Case Competition —

Student teams from across the globe are invited to analyze data and create analytics-driven solutions to real-world organizational challenges and compete for CASH PRIZES!

SKillup

Founded in July 2020, SkillUp Coalition is an innovative nonprofit that connects workers with the right tools, resources, and support to make confident career shifts, find quality living-wage jobs, and position themselves for promising career growth without the need of a college degree. Through its cutting-edge technology platform and step-by-step career guidance options, SkillUp has connected nearly 3 million workers to career, training, and job support nationwide. The coalition brings together more than 100 leading organizations, including training and education providers, technology developers, policymakers, employers, and philanthropies.

SkillUp proudly advocates for an affordable, equitable, upskilling ecosystem that ensures every worker has high-opportunity employment.

Case data will be shared on a rolling basis dependent on registration, so sign-up as soon as possible!

Important Dates

  • November 21, 2024: Registration Open

  • February 10, 2025: Q&A Session with SKILLUP
  • February 17, 2025: Submission Deadline
  • March 6, 2025: Finalists Notified of Invitation to Present
  • March 18, 2025: Virtual Finalist Presentations & Winner Announcement
  • April 10-11, 2025: Winner Project Presented by its team at the 12th Annual Wharton People Analytics Conference

Finalists & Winners

  • Finals are conducted virtually 3 weeks prior to the conference. Finalist teams are provided 8 minutes to present their work, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A with the panel of judges, comprised of experts from SKILLUP, industry, and academe. Winners are announced at the conclusion of the finals.
  • Winning submissions will be awarded $5,500 for 1st place, $4,000 for 2nd place, and $3,000 for 3rd place. First-place winners will receive complimentary tickets for the 2025 Wharton People Analytics Conference (a $1,000+ value) and have the opportunity to present their project as part of the conference program.
  • The winning team’s presentation at the conference and the entirety of the finals will be shared on our YouTube playlist, and remain posted prominently on our website for the following year.

— White Paper Competition —

This year, researchers and practitioners worldwide are invited to showcase their insights.
Submit your work for a chance to present your winning paper on the conference stage!

We are looking for novel, actionable, and data-driven insights that can inform professional practice in a wide range of organizations.  Past submissions have included topics such as skill identification, employee perks, and behavior change in the workplace…but the options are endless.

Finalists will be featured on the People Analytics Conference website and the Wharton People Analytics YouTube playlist, with the winning team presenting in-person at the 2025 conference on April 10-11.

Selecting and Celebrating the Winners

  • Finals are conducted virtually 3 weeks prior to the conference. Authors of each paper are provided 8 minutes to present their work, followed by 5 minutes of Q/A with the panel of judges, comprised of experts from industry and academe. Winners are announced at the conclusion of the finals, and receive free tickets to the conference.
  • The winners are announced to the broader analytics community,  and promoted via all of our social media outlets. 
  • The winning paper’s presentation at the conference and the entirety of the finals will be shared on our YouTube playlist, and remain posted prominently on our website for the following year.
