Generative AI and Workforce
Jasmine Wu
Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
The rapid advances in AI, particularly Generative AI (GenAI), are transforming the workforce. GenAI’s capabilities in creative content generation, code generation, synthesizing information, and organizing inquiries are significantly impacting the labor market. This is particularly evident for highly educated, high-income workers, such as software engineers, G&A, sales, and marketing professionals. This development raises critical questions in management: How will AI reshape the workforce? What new jobs will emerge? What jobs will go by the wayside? How can we prepare our workforce for these changes through upskilling and reskilling?
We aim to (1) gain insights into how GenAI has been utilized to enhance productivity, streamline organizations, and create job opportunities, and then (2) provide research-based guidelines to inform best management practices that address uncertainties and challenges in the AI-heavy business world.
This team will work under the supervision of Professor Matthew Bidwell and Postdoctoral Researcher Dr. Jasmine Wu, with support from the Wharton People Analytics team.
